St John’s CMO Celebrates Fathers’ Day
As world all over commemorate 2022 Fathers’ Day, the members of Catholic Men Organization ( C.M.O-Nka Akpan Obong ),St.John Parish,72 Abak Road,Uyo were not left behind as they joined their counter parts in other churches and beyond to mark this year’s Fathers’ Day Celebration with the theme :” I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God which cost me nothing”
( 2 Sam. 24: 24 ).
The event which coincided with the Feast of Corpus Christi-Feast of Body and Blood of Christ with attention duly given to the feast of day.
Delivering his homily,one of the assistant priests in the parish,Friar Timothy Odoh,OFM,Cap said we thank God for the gift of the fathers,we thank God for their responsibilities in the family.
“Today is a day God has planned to take good care of the fathers.He, however,urged the wives to take care of their husbands by preparing a delicious meal for them.He also urged the children to take good care of their fathers.
On the feast of the day,he said Eucharist is the source and solid of christians,for Christ given the Eucharist is the best thing He did for the church.
“In the olden days,God led the people of Israel from the Egypt which God always remind them when He spoke to them remember “I am the God led you out of the land of Egypt”.
He added that in our own days,God has made us to remember Him through the Eucharist.
“When we come to church,the church always remind us to partake in this Eucharist.Christ has assured us when we eat His body and drink blood we live for ever”
We don’t understand the consubstantiation which the bread and wine turn into Body and Blood of Christ.It is a ministry we believe,he maintained.
He however,urged the faithful to eliminate whatever that will make them not to partake in the Body and Blood of Christ so that they will receive what it offers.
