…APC Kwara seeks prayer for them
The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Kayode Alabi, has tested positive for COVID-19, The Morenews can authoritatively report.
Findings yesterday showed that Alabi’s wife, Abieyuwa was also confirmed positive to the deadly virus.
Spokesman for the state Technical Committee on COVID-19, Rafiu Ajakaye, confirmed the development.
The deputy governor was until the incident the Chairman, State Technical Committee on COVID-19.
Ajakaye disclosed that the deputy governor and his wife had undergone test when they exhibited coronavirus related symptoms.
He said immediate contact tracing and tests, among other safety protocols, are being carried out for persons who have met the second family in the past few days.
“Yesterday August 3rd, 2020, His Excellency the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Kwara State Technical Committee Kayode Alabi and his wife, Her Excellency Mrs Abieyuwa Alabi, underwent COVID-19 test after they showed slight symptoms of the virus.
“The results of their test are positive. The second couple are very stable and in high spirit, and are now undergoing standard management protocols supervised by the government’s medical team.
“Immediate contact tracing and tests, among other safety protocols, are being done for persons who have met with the couple in the past few days.
“The government wishes the second couple and all others quick recovery”, Ajakaye said.
Meanwhile, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday urged the people of the state to pray for the quick recovery of the State’s Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, and his wife, who both tested positive for the COVID-19.
In a statement issued by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Tajudeen Folaranmi Aro, expressed sadness at the status of the 2nd family, considering the position of the Deputy Governor as the Chairman of the State Technical Committee on COVID-19.
The statement added, “We call on all Nigerians, especially Kwarans of all faith, to pray for them to recover and bounce back soon to continue their remarkable contributions to the state”.
