Gunmen kill youth leader in Akwa Ibom
Some dreaded gunmen who are on the prowl in Ukanafun have struck again. Last Monday morning, a youth leader from Ikot Andem village was shot dead along the spur linking Ekparawa road and Ikot Udo Ossiom village.
A dependable source who interacted with our crime correspondent said that Mr. Uffot Job who was the immediate past youth leader of Ikot Andem was killed at about 7am while riding a motorcycle towards Ikot Udo Ossiom.
It was gathered that the assailants reportedly made away with the motorcycle that the late youth leader enjoyed as an empowerment from the National Assembly Member representing the area.
A party chieftain from the area who spoke with our reporter on telephone said that the matter was reported to the police who are said to have commenced investigation into the matter.
Recall that Ukanafun has been a flashpoint since December, 2016 even as the presence of Joint Security Taskforce which has been on critical surveillance of the area has not brought the incessant violent crimes under control.
