2023: PDP Governorship Primaries: Statutory or Adhoc, Umo Eno maintains 89% lead- PDP Chieftain
…Accuses Rebellious PDP Governorship Aspirants of Unholy Romance with Opposition Party
Pastor Umo Eno is sure of winning the PDP Governorship primaries irrespective of who votes, be it statutory or Adhoc, a former Commissioner, and currently, Spokesperson of the Maintain Peace Movement, MPM, and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Chris Abasieyo, has declared.
The party chieftain said irrespective of the category of people allowed to vote, the former Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources still maintains a comfortable lead, a fact ,he noted, his opponents are aware of and can never upturn.
The former Commissioner noted that the perception and propaganda by some other Governorship aspirants who tend to portray Umo Eno as only having the Adhoc delegates as his major strength, is wrong as the Nsit Ubium born enterpreneur is solidly leading among both Statutory and Adhoc delegates.
“Aside the face saving measures by Umo Eno’s opponents in the race, the truth is that even if the Governorship primaries is held today, whether it is statutory delegates or Adhoc delegates that will vote, Umo Eno is the man to beat”.
“No matter how you look at it, it is difficult to imagine Umo Eno won’t comfortably secure 89% of delegates votes. He is leading, he will continue to lead and it’s hard to see his approval rating coming down anytime soon”, he declared.
Abasieyo maintained that based on a fair and honest analysis of the political variables on ground, objective indices point to the fact that Pastor Umo Eno, remains the most formidable aspirant because of the weight of those backing him.
“It is very difficult to imagine Umo Eno won’t win the primary seamlessly. He will win effortlessly. Even other Governorship aspirants know this and this explains why Akan Udofia left for another party because it dawned on him after a careful analysis that he cannot clinch the PDP ticket.
He observed that the PDP National Working Committee, NWC, are not stupid and therefore cannot trust some of Umo Eno’s opponents because of what he called their “secret and sometimes open romance with the opposition in the state”.
“You think the party in Abuja doesn’t know that some of them are working for elements within the opposition? You think we don’t know that one is already on his way to YPP? You think the party in Abuja doesn’t know that one of them visited the immediate past Minister of Niger Delta in Ukana the night he declared for president? You think we don’t know that he laughs with Umo Eno facially but he is the unseen hand behind the numerous frivolous petitions against Umo Eno even though he claims they are brothers? The party knows their antics”, he stated.
The PDP Chieftain noted that the PDP is fully aware that most of the petitions against Umo Eno are not because the petitioners want the best for the party but are simply playing a script for the opposition which is why they are not taken serious by both the party and the delegates.
In his words, “It is because of their secret romance against the party that has given them the shameless audacity to boast that Akwa Ibom State will experience the Rivers and Zamfara state scenario of 2019. Once you hear their supporters spewing that trash on social media, you can easily tell where their principals truly stand”.
“But they forget that the facts that led to the disqualification of APC in Rivers and Zamfara from presenting candidates for the 2019 election are not the same with the imaginary crisis they claim exists in Akwa Ibom PDP”. These are aspirants whom we thought were prepared for the Adhoc delegates congress who willfully boycotted the congress even in their wards only to turn around to mourn that they were excluded. No serious party will take such aspirants seriously”, he noted.
He called on PDP members to stay focused and reenact the resilience the party is known for by supporting Pastor Umo Eno who he declared is set to win the PDP Governorship ticket and lead the party to a historic landslide victory come 2023.
