2023 Guber Race: Umo Eno and his strategic partners
By Emmanuel Ndon
As part of their political warfare ahead of the impending governorship primary, the ‘opponents’ have recently given a new life and dimension to propaganda with an imaginary “crisis” within the Umo Eno’s camp. Unfortunately, all they have succeeded in ; is no greater than misinformation and disinformation.
As is the case with propaganda, it is prejudiced, and poorly deceptive. It felt short of Adolf Hitler’s prescription that all propaganda must be popular and its intellectual level must be adjusted to the most limited intellectual among those it is addressed to.
Consequently, this grossly impudent lie suggesting a division among and within Maintain Peace Movement (MPM) and its affiliates has left a sour taste behind even after it has been nailed down.
The truth is that – and it is widely known – there is no division in the camp of Umo Eno. Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), Orange Movement, Ibom Consolidation Project (ICP), Ibom Community Congress (ICC), among many others are working in tandem, complementing each other.
As a mega standard organization, the Umo Eno Consultation Team and the strategic partners have functional structures with different directorates, departments and affiliates, each responsible for an assigned task. For instance, Orange Movement is the lead marketer within the branding and marketing sub-division which also has Team Umo Eno and other groups.
There are also those for mobilization, publicity, media defence and intercession. None of them intercepts the role and responsibility of the different layers of the group.
There is one vision, one purpose and one objective for the various groupings. Beyond that, the Umo Eno support groups as a whole, are one united and cohesive family, full of strength to drive their mission to its final destination. This is already demonstrated by the success stories of winning converts and courting friendships, across the entire breadth of the state, on a daily basis.
Rather than indulge in excessive propaganda, contending camps for the governorship ticket should find ways of building a good reputation not only for themselves, but yielding a good image for their paymasters. Creating a nonexistent rivalry in the opponent’s camp is not a good strategy.
The worst is that the impudence is emanating from within the same fold – the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
However, the good news is that the party has provided all her aspirants a level playing field and the assurances of fairness. Thus, everyone should campaign freely, devoid of hate speech, demagoguery and other misconduct capable of hurting each other; or denting the peaceful image of the state, or even dragging the party into disrepute.
For all purpose and intent, as noted by Adolf Hitler, “The truth is the best propaganda”.
