THE FUSS IN THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH NIGERIA, ORON FIELD: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT
The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Oron Field, Akwa Ibom State Territory and the entire Apostolic fold of recent has been thrown into a spectacle in the media space on a calculated attempt to expose the name of the Church to ridicule, following recent developments in Oron Field of the Church. It behoves on the leadership of the Church in Akwa Ibom State to state as follows:
1. The Executive Council of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Territory frowns at the invasion of Oron Field Headquarters of The Apostolic Church Nigeria by a group of unidentified youth carrying playcards with false inscriptions to disturb the peaceful fellowship of Church members and the sanctity of the Church on Saturday, January 29, 2022 and also at Iquitta Headquarters and Oron Town Assembly of the Church on Sunday, 30th January, 2022 respectively.
2. The Council is not unaware of the fact that the untoward incident is connected to the various Petitions by both Pastor Isaac Uye, the Area Superintendent of Ibaka Area, and the Council of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Oron Field.
3. That Akwa Ibom State Territorial Executive Council having become seized of the various allegations and counter allegations in the aforesaid petitions, met on Thursday January 20, 2022 to commence hearing from all the petitioners and relevant parties including Pastor Isaac Uye who submitted himself to be heard or participated in the proceedings and requested for an adjournment to enable him produce witnesses to establish his defence and claims. The matter was accordingly adjourned to Friday February 4, 2022 for further hearing.
4. It is therefore unacceptable and uncalled for, the recent online media attacks and condemnation predicated on unsubstantiated allegations or falsehood intended to malign the leadership of the Church and desecrate the sanctity of the house of God in a-pre-emptive move to probably cover-up the truth. The Territorial Council of the Church having met with all Pastors, Elders and other Officers of the Church in Oron Field on Tuesday February 1, 2022, is already on hand to intervene and broker peace.
5. While the Territorial Council shall take further decisions after the hearing on Friday February 4, all hostilities against the Church must stop. Apostolic faithful in Oron Field are encouraged to remain undeterred, peaceful and law abiding, knowing that Christ- The owner of the Church, reigns Supreme and will fight His battle.
6. Let it be known that The Apostolic Church Nigeria, founded by the Holy Spirit, teaches and upholds moral uprightness as espoused in the Holy Scripture and does not promote practices and behaviours inconsistent with Christian ideals. Christian community and the public should discountenance any attempt to tarnish the image of the Church as any move to intimidate the Church in the course of delivering divine assignments, shall not succeed.
Jesus is Lord.
