Akwa Ibom: Owners of illegal structures in Uyo get 7-day quit notice
Following the approval by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for a primary school in Ewet Offot, Uyo Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno has issued seven days notice to owners of illegal structures behind the Ewet Technical School by Uruan Street, to vacate as demolition will take place soonest.
Speaking during an inspection visit of the approved site for a primary school in the area, the Commissioner said it was necessary to demolish the illegal structures in order to have access to the site as well as the school when completed.
The Honourable Commissioner who was in company of the Chairmen, State Technical School Board (ASTEB), Hon. Godwin Udom, and Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA), Prince Enobong Uwa, said the school project is the Governor’s response to a request by the community for a primary school.
While disclosing that he was at the site to ensure access and proper demarcation of the approved primary school from Ewet Technical School, he urged the community to ensure maximum cooperation as government will commence work soonest.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the inspection, the Village Chairman of Ewet Offot, Moreh Alfred J. Akpan commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for the approval of a primary school in their community, stressing that it was a thing of joy and celebration for the community.
The Chairman who said the community never had a primary school and had been appealing to government over the years, prayed that God will continue to bless and protect the Governor for harkening to their request.
Also in the team of the inspection were; the Director Town and Country Planing covering duty for the Permanent Secretary – TPL Aniekan Akpan, SSA to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Hon Otobong Edemidiong,
members of the technical school board, and other directors in the Ministry of Lands and Water Resources.
