Drum Majors: CEO National Troupe of Nigeria bags Icon of Peace award
The Drum Majors for Peace, a socio-cultural non-governmental organization has honoured the Artistic Director and Chief Executive Officer, National Troupe of Nigeria, Ahlaji Ahmed Muhammed Ahmed with “Icon of Peace and Cultural Development award.
The award was presented to him during a familiarization visit by Drum Majors for Peace to the Artistic Director/CEO of National Troupe of Nigeria, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed Ahmed in Abuja, recently.
Presenting the award, the Executive Director, Drum Majors for Peace, Mr. Nsikan Paul thanked Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed for his outstanding role in the promotion of peace and excellent leadership in cultural development, humanitarian services and youth mentorship.
He encouraged him to do more and also prayed for God to bless and strengthen him.
Mr Paul who lauded the Artistic Director/CEO for the warm reception during the visit also commended the him for his transformational drive at the institution since inception of office.
He thanked the Artistic Director for gracing the 2nd National Entertainment and Peace Summit organised by the group on 16th September, 2021 in commemoration of World Peace Day.
According to him the visit was to seek further collaborations and partnerships between the National Troupe of Nigeria and the Drum Majors for Peace to continue to promote love and peaceful co-existence among people.
While informing the CEO that a programme was organised by Drum Majors for peace tagged “FEED ONE INITIATIVE” in commemoration of World Food Day as part of the group’s contribution to a better society.
He added that Feed One Initiative is an advocacy outreach to promote Zero hunger (Goal 2 of the SDG’s and Goal 1, 12, 16, promote Agriculture, good health and wellbeing as well as build sustainable cities and communities, coined from Mother Theresa’s famous quote “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then FEED JUST ONE.”
“With the initiative we contribute our widow’s might to reduce hunger “It is hunger that leads to anger and if there is anger, there is violence and the nation would not be at peace. We also promote peace through food.
“With the initiative, we also seek to feed, train and heal as many people as possible but it starts with at least one person at a time.
“Peace, like war, must be waged, therefore we all need to be deliberate in our call for peace, better nutrition, environment and better life for all.
“If you are a teacher, farmer, politician, administrators, etc, you need to take deliberate action towards making the world a better place.
“That the initiative took place on 16th of October 2021 at Dukpa Correctional Centre, Gwagwalada Abuja to reach out to the less privilege, children, prisoners and mothers and also an avenue to showcase our locally made food and likewise the foreign food as well,” Nsikan explained.
The Drum Majors helmsman hinted the Artistic Director on the next program coming up on 2nd December, 2021 titled: INTERNATIONAL FOOD CULTURE EXPO and solicited further collaboration with the National Troupe of Nigeria to host “National Unity Dance Challenge”.
The objective of the programme according to him is to promote peace, creative empowerment, positive values, youth inclusion in nation building and to commemorate World Dance Day 2022 slated for 29th April, 2022.
In line with this, the Executive Director appealed to the Artistic Director/CEO to serve as one of the Keynote speakers at the event.
In his response, the Artistic Director/CEO Ahmed Muhammed Ahmed expressed his gratitude to the leadership and the entire team at Drum Majors For Peace for honouring him and for considering National Troupe of Nigeria worthy of the visit.
He applauded Drum Majors for their visitation in promoting peace and a better society.
He further adviced the group to keep the flag flying that the future is always bright for those who do good.
He shared his wealth of experience with the them to encourage them to keep hope alive.
The AD/CEO maintained that National Troupe as a parastatal under the Ministry of Information and Culture is ready to partner with Drum Majors for Peace to take Nigeria to the next level.
He further assured that National Troupe of Nigeria can be relied upon and will do anything humanly possible to assist them come 2022.
“This partnership is to give Drum Majors more visibility and also a platform to display their talents to the outside world,” he assured.
He wished them well as they drive towards greater heights and looking forward to a synergetic working relationship between the Drum Majors for Peace and the National Troupe of Nigeria.
