Makurdi Decamping Rally: Akase receives heroic welcome as over 100 defectors join PDP in Benue
A frontline governorship aspirant in Benue State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic (PDP), Mr Terver Akase held the venue of Makurdi decamping ceremony to a standstill, as hundreds of his supporters thronged to welcome him upon arrival.
Amidst a sea of cheering supporters who chanted songs of solidarity, the immediate past Chief Press Secretary and 2023 governorship hopeful had to disembark from the car upon arriving the gate of IBB Square where the ceremony held earlier today, October 25.
Hundreds of members of political parties comprising, APC, ADC, APGA in Makurdi local government defected into the PDP, citing lack of internal democracy and unity within their former parties as reasons for their defection.
Receiving the defectors into the PDP fold, State Chairman of the party, Chief John Ngbede assured them of equal opportunities within the party, stressing that the PDP is a party where all members interest is protected.
Leader of the PDP in North Central and Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom who was represented at the decamping ceremony by the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Bernard Unenge, assured the decampees of effective integration into the party.
Others who spoke at the ceremony were, Dr Paul Ubwa on behalf of the governorship aspirants of the party, State Assembly Member for Makurdi South, Mr Terwase Aondoakaa as well as Engr Conrad Utaan who in their separate speeches guaranteed the decampees of fair play within the party, adding that with its soaring population in the State, the PDP was upbeat about clinching victory in the forthcoming 2023 polls.
