Federal Polytechnic Ukana: Rector Charges for 7Congregation Representative in Governing Council on proper representation
The Rector Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Dr. Uduak S. Ukekpe has charged the newly elected congregation representative into the Governing Council to properly represent the interest of the institution on behalf of the Academic and Senior Non-Teaching Staff.
Dr.Ukekpe gave this charge while speaking at the end of the Congregation election exercise which took place today at the Annex Campus of the Polytechnic.
Dr. Ukekpe stated that , the Federal Government reconstituted Governing Councils for all Federal Polytechnics across the country which necessitated the congregation election to produce internal members who will represent senior staff in the Governing Council in line with the Polytechnic Act as amended.
Dr. Ukekpe stressed that the sole reason for including a staff of the Polytechnic into the Governing Council of the Institution is for proper representation of staff at the highest level of the Polytechnic’s decision making body and urged the representative to ensure that the purpose is upheld and not defeated.
Responding , the newly elected Congregation representative In Governing Council Comrade Micheal Akpan Essien thanked members of the Congregation for their support and privilege to serve. He promised to repay the confidence imposed on him by everyone by ensuring that every concern of the Polytechnic is given adequate consideration. Essien assured that he will serve selflessly in order to move the Polytechnic forward.
The election, conducted by the Registrar of the Polytechnic Dr. Okon J. Ekanem , who is the Secretary of the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic , Ukana was very peaceful and transparent.
