2024 LG Elections: Essien Udim Council Boss Pledges Support to PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Engr. Eno Patrick
In a significant show of loyalty and support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the October 5th, 2024 local government polls, Dr. Anthony Luke, the Transition Chairman of Essien Udim, has pledged his unalloyed commitment to the party and its chairmanship candidate, Engr. Eno Patrick.
The Chairman who made the declaration during the inauguration of the Enoabasi Campaign Organization at the council secretariat on September 9, 2024, expressed confidence in the PDP’s strong roots within Essien Udim and assured a massive mobilization effort to secure victory in the upcoming LG elections.
Dr. Luke emphasized the importance of zoning, maintaining that it is Essien Annang’s turn to produce the next council chairman, and praised Engr. Patrick’s capabilities to build on the achievements of his administration.
He expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for supporting the zoning arrangements in the area and commended him for his fatherly disposition during the selection processes while pledging the continuous support of Essien Udim people to the governor’s ARISE Agenda.
“I am very confident that PDP will win the council election because the party is well rooted in Essien Udim. We are all committed to the success of the party at grassroots level and I can assure you of your victory and that of all the party’s candidates at the polls,” he remarked.
He urged the candidate to align with Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda, focusing on grassroots development to ensure dividends of democracy to the people.
Engr. Eno Patrick, in his address, outlined his vision to continue the momentum of Dr. Luke’s administration by prioritizing peace, unity and security of Essien Udim, while also aiming at food sufficiency and agricultural improvements. He also promised to enhance infrastructural development, investing in education, health and entrepreneurship, as well as improving the welfare of the youth and women in Essien Udim.
The event also marked the swearing in of the Enoabasi campaign team and featured the welcoming of defectors from other political parties, including notable figures such as Barr. Ephraim Okon, former House of Assembly candidate for the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
The campaign council will be led by Mr. Martins Umanah, a former Local Government Council Chairman of Essien Udim.
