Osinbajo’s rally in Akwa Ibom receives traditional rulers’ blessing
A political rally in Akwa Ibom State to officially prevail upon Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to run for the presidency of Nigeria in 2023 has received the blessings of traditional rulers in the state.
The Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General, Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr) Solomon Daniel Etuk, while addressing organizers of the event, noted that Osinbajo is a capable Nigerian who has displayed competence and reliability in public service.
He extolled the personality of the Vice President, saying as a diligent public servant and gentleman, those clamouring for his ilk to join the presidential race are right to do.
The Oku Ibom encouraged “credible Nigerians” to join the presidential race as well as the race for other elective positions in the country, insisting that only credible and competent leadership can engender progress in the country.
He particularly referred to the Vice President as “a friend to Akwa Ibom State and a friend to our governor, who has come to Akwa Ibom on many occasions to commission several projects.”
The monarch wished the team successful hosting of the event billed to hold at Emerald Events Centre in Uyo, tomorrow, Saturday, March 5, 2022.
On his part, the Chairman, Ifim Ibom Ibibio and Paramount Ruler of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, HRM Okuku Ime Udousoro Inyang, said as the race for the presidency hots up, Prof Osinbajo remains a gold fish who is likely to encouraged by a good percentage of Nigerians to contest.
He, however, stated that as traditional rulers, theirs is to promote a virile and democratic system which allows for the emergence of only credible leaders.
Senior Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Femi Ojudu, who earlier briefed the traditional rulers on their mission to the Oku Ibom Ibibio’s palace, declared that Saturday’s event is solely organized by a conglomerate of volunteer support groups, and expressed hope that the Vice President would accept their plea.
Ojudu added that an Osinbajo presidency will harness best of talents and partners across the country to solve the myriad of problems confronting the nation.
Another member of the delegation, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Solomon Enang, noted that the event shall be an epoch making one, and thanked the traditional rulers for granting them audience.
A veteran politician, Chief Otu Ita Toyo; VP Osinbajo’s aides, Dr (Mrs) Ebi Awosika and Ime Okon were also part of the delegation.
The courtesy visit was also graced by Paramount Rulers of Ikot Abasi, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Areas and Chiefs from the Nsit Ubium Local Government Traditional Rulers Council.
