2023: NNPP candidate calls for re-run of Cross River Governorship election
Alfred Osang Bonse, a gubernatorial candidate who was excluded from the list of legitimate candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has demanded a cancellation and re-run of the election.
In a press briefing at the NUJ Press Center in Calabar on Tuesday, Osang stated that INEC’s outright disregard of an earlier Tribunal ruling to reinstate his name on the list was the reason for his call for a re-run.
Osang restated that, “The impetus behind their demand for the nullification and subsequent re-conduct of the 2023 gubernatorial election in Cross River is rooted in the INEC’s blatant disregard for a previous court ruling mandating the reinstatement of their names in the list of candidates””
“”Our presence here today is to voice our discontent with the Electoral Commission and the overall system.
“”Our entreaty is straightforward – though the matter is still in court we are using this medium to call for the cancellation and re-run of the 2023 gubernatorial election in Cross River, that is our humble prayer,” Osang expressed.
Other stakeholders of the party attended the briefing.
