2023 Guber: I’m in a mission to restore Cross River State – SDP Candidate
The 2023 gubernatorial flag bearer of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Cross River State, Mr Effiom Okokon says he will restore the state to the enviable position if he wins the governorship election in 2023.
Mr Okokon gave the promise on Thursday while speaking with the Journalists at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Center said he is in a mission to restore the lost glory of Cross River State.
He said, “we want to revamp the economy of the state and restore the state to an enviable position where the state is known for”
The governorship hopeful also stated that if he becomes the governor, he will introduce a tax reduction policy that will tax companies to encourage investors to remain in business which would put more into people’s pockets.
Maintaining that government should not make taxes to be the major source of income generation for the state.
Opine that tax burden over the years has scared off many business owners to relocate to other states.
His words, “We need new money to come to the state through new investments and friendly tax policies, we will look at the tax regime and reduce company taxes for people to have value to their money. This new tax policy will put money into people’s pockets””
Effiom also unveiled other areas of his priority to include, including rural development to curb urban migration, tourism, improvement in the agriculture value chain, and adequate maintenance of security.
Mr Okokon was accompanied by his running mate, Comrade Daniel Obo as well as a candidate for the House of Assembly, Obubra-1 state constituency, Mr Ernest Joe Obase, and many other party faithful.
